Slip, Trip & Fall
Falls account for more than 1 million injuries each year in the United States.
There are several scenarios which account for falls. When a person encounters
a foreign object in his or her path of walking, we refer to it as a trip-and-fall.
When a moving foot encounters an unexpected failure or hole in the surface on
which it is walking, we refer to it as a step-and-fall accident. When the footwear
of a person and its walking surface fail to support the person's center of gravity
of the base and a fall occurs, we refer to it as a slip-and-fall accident. Inadequate
guarding and maintenance of guarding and/or walking surfaces contribute to cause
such accidents as well.
Our engineers are able to provide incident-specific analyses regarding slips,
trips and falls through coefficient of friction testing, trip hazard evaluation,
and inadequate guarding evaluation. Further, we own and are trained in the use
of the Brungraber Mark II slip meter which measures the slip resistance of horizontal
surfaces.
